Album of Pieces for Intermediate Pianists
Selected and revised by Ivo Kahánek
- A survey of original Czech piano compositions from the 18th century to the late 20th century
- For intermediate pianists
- Fingerings by Ivo Kahánek
Renowned Czech pianist Ivo Kahánek responds to practical needs with his album of recital pieces for solo piano, recommending easier works by significant Czech composers to young, intermediate pianists. Even the most challenging pieces do not exceed the technical difficulty level of the lower grades of conservatories or other music high schools. In his selection, he applied not only his refined taste but also considered the popularity of these pieces among teachers and students.
- This journey through the history and recent past of original Czech piano compositions offers a representative selection of Czech Classicism (Benda, Dusík), the Romantic period of the 19th century and the turn of the 20th century (Voříšek, Smetana, Dvořák, Fibich, Suk, Novák, Janáček), and various compositional styles from the second half of the last century (Martinů, Vřešťál, Kabeláč, Eben, Dlouhý, Sluka).
- All pieces are originals, without any alterations or simplifications.
