Jakub Jan Ryba (1765 - 1815) was a rural teacher and is the author of more than 1100 songs. Of the thirty masses, the most famous is the Czech Christmas Mass from 1796, which, thanks to its joyful mood, has become an inseparable part of Christmas. The composition is based on a piano abstract by Josef Hercl.
